The Ormand Apartments.
The Ormand Apartments, located near 28th and Howard Streets in Omaha, held a meaningful place in the city’s architectural history. After years of vacancy, deterioration, and unsuccessful preservation efforts, the building was approved for demolition.
Big A Demo was brought into the project after the decision had been made and after all realistic measures to save the structure had reportedly been exhausted. Our role was to safely and professionally carry out the permitted demolition work while respecting the significance of the property and the surrounding neighborhood.
Projects in dense urban areas require careful planning and controlled execution. With nearby streets, neighboring properties, and community interest in the site, Big A Demo approached the Ormand Apartments demolition with a focus on safety, site control, and responsible project management.
While the loss of a historic structure is never taken lightly, this project reflects the responsibility that comes with demolition work: helping property owners, municipalities, and communities address aging or unsafe structures when preservation is no longer feasible.
